It’s not every day that you can experience a hotel that is located just a stone’s throw from one of the world’s most densely populated group of manatees. At the Plantation Golf Resort & Spa, located along the Crystal River inlets, you’ll have the unique opportunity to observe native Florida manatees in their natural habitat.

Every winter, a large group of manatees make a yearly pilgrimage up to the warm water of Crystal River, of which the head springs maintain an average year-round temperature of 72 degrees. This group of West Indian Manatees is a playful bunch, and through Crystal River Divers, our dive shop, you can jump right in and swim alongside this large group of underwater wonders, which typically show up in numbers of 50 or more.

From December through April, the manatees are easy to spot all throughout Crystal River and King’s Bay, making this the best time to get up close and personal with these majestic creatures. In fact, this particular group of manatees is one of the largest concentrations in all of North America. Come experience a Crystal River swim you won’t soon forget!
